Who Can Pull An Armored Truck The Fastest: Plainfield Police To Host Contest

In past competitions, teams of five pulled the 38,000-pound armored truck across the finish line in a minute or two.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Curious who can pull an armored truck the fastest? The Plainfield Police Department will host a challenge Aug. 5 to find out.

The department will hold its annual Armored Truck Challenge in conjunction with National Night Out as a way to raise money for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

Teams of five will compete to see who can pull an empty armored truck, weighing about 38,000 pounds, 75 feet the fastest. In the past, teams have completed the distance in a minute or two, Patch reported.

An armored truck from the police department's fleet will be used for the event, taking place at Village Hall, 24401 W. Lockport St. Each team will take turns pulling the truck the full distance and have their time recorded. The truck is then pulled back to the starting line until all teams participate and a winner is declared.

Check in will begin at 6 p.m., and the challenge will kick off an hour later.

The cost to enter is $150 per team. Interested participants have until Aug. 1 to register by contacting AnnaMarie Flood by calling 815-267-7235or emailing specialolympicsinfo@plainfieldpd.com.

A rain date is planned for Aug. 12 — same time and place.
