DUI Charge for Woman with Car Stuck on Tracks

The Plainfield resident admitted to police that she had been drinking before becoming disoriented and ending up on the tracks in Tinley Park.

A woman was arrested in Tinley Park over the weekend after police found her behind the wheel of her idle car, which was stuck on the train tracks, Tinley Park police said.

Rachel E. Mizwicki, 20, of 24215 Cropland Drive, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police discovered her four-door Oldsmobile stopped on the tracks at about 2:20 a.m. Saturday in the 17300 block of 68th Court, a block west of Oak Park Avenue, according to the report.

"Rachel advised that she was not familiar with the area and turned the wrong way out of the parking lot," the report said. " ... She did not realize she was driving on the railroad tracks until her vehicle became stuck."

The responding officer notified Metra about the vehicle, and guided Mizwicki and her passengers to safety when a train came down the tracks.

The locomotive missed Mizwicki's car, according to the report. A Metra officer helped arrange for it to be towed and issued her citations for illegally stopping on the railway and trespassing to a railway, the report said.
