World War II Demonstration Set For Plainfield Central High School
Weather permitting, the outdoor event will include a "battle re-enactment with a semi-automatic rifle demonstration."

PLAINFIELD, IL — Once again, District 202 is alerting residents of a war reenactment at Plainfield Central High School that will include a semi-automatic rifle demonstration. The demonstration, which will take place for most of the school day on Friday, is part of social studies teacher Steve Lamberti's annual program on war-related topics.
This year's topic is "the life of a soldier during World War II," according to the district.
The demonstrations will take place periodically from 7:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday with the help of PHSCC alum Eric Percy, who does war re-enactments as a hobby.

"Mr. Lamberti does similar programs about various war-related topics every year," the district said in a community alert. The same message was sent Tuesday to all families and staff at schools in or near the downtown Plainfield area, along with the Plainfield Public Library, YMCA and park district.
A heads-up was also posted to District 202 social media accounts and on the Plainfield Central marquee.

"This program is very popular and powerful (as you can imagine) with students, but it always draws concerns and confusion from residents in the area," spokesman Tom Hernandez said in an email.
