Officials say this decision lets planners start detailed design and cost estimates, which must be completed before anything goes to the Quincy City Council for approval.
   

• Quincy City Council approves property tax increase (wgem.com) — Quincy homeowners face a proposed 6% property tax levy increase aimed largely at covering rising police and fire pension costs. City leaders say the hike, about $20–$25 a year on a $150,000 home, helps avoid cuts to essential services, and urge seniors and veterans to check for possible exemptions through the Adams County Assessor.
   

• Cathy Lynn Schmidt, 60 (effinghamradio.com) — Family and friends are mourning 60-year-old Cathy Lynn Schmidt of Newton, whose relatives include a sister-in-law living in Quincy.
