Martinez to Stage Holiday Classic 'A Christmas Carol'

Martinez students are hard at work putting the finishing touches on the heartwarming holiday production of “A Modern Christmas Carol” by Ruth Ann Pattee on stage at the Romeoville middle school for two performances on Saturday, Dec. 10.

The play puts a modern twist on Dickens’s traditional ”A Christmas Carol” featuring Ebenezer (Sonny Interrant) who pesters friends to do his homework, harasses classmates for lunch money, and refuses to go Christmas caroling, and his friends are sick of it. Ebenezer (who changes his name to Ed) receives Christmas Eve visits from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. They remind him of what his life used to be and open his eyes to what it has become and how much worse it could get if Ed doesn’t change his ways right now.

Cast members include Ebenezer--Sonny Interrant, Laura—Alejandra Rangel, Kaitlin—Anisa Alfaro, Nick—Gabriel Bell, Robbie—Krzystof Noga, Beth—Toni Caruso, Daisy—Nicole Dzurnak, Mrs. Hoffman—Jolene Anderson, Mrs. Stone—Mallory Hedemark, Ghost of Christmas Present—Taylor Cameron, Ghost of Christmas Past—Savana Jurgens, and Ghost of Christmas Future—Zoey Anthony.

D. Janicki is Stage Director, while Maya Ramos, Aleza Diaz, Franchesca Austriaco and Lukas Saltenis are Crew Managers. Tammy Umentum, Samantha Bowman and Greg Johnston are directing the play.

The curtains go up at noon and 3 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door.
