Romeoville Man Arrested On Child Porn Charge

According to Will County inmate records, Romeoville resident Matthew Ferrari was arrested Wednesday, March 4 on multiple child porn charges.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — A 51-year-old Romeoville man named Matthew Ferrari was arrested on Wednesday, March 4 on multiple charges of child pornography possession. He was apprehendedby officers with the Illinois State Police shortly before noon. Representatives with the Romeoville Police Department said they had no involvement with Ferrari's arrest.

Ferrari was immediately taken to the Will County Adult Corrections Facility in Joliet, where he was housed awaiting an initial court date on Thursday, March 5. At that initial court hearing, Will County court records indicate that Ferrari was charged with a total of three child pornography possession charges, each one a class two felony punishable with up to seven years in prison and up to $25,000 in fines.

Ferrari's next court date is set for March 26 at 9 a.m. in the Will County Courthouse, according to Will County inmate records. He is currently being held at the Adult Corrections Facility on $2,500 bail.

A press release from the state police said an investigation into Ferrari's activities had been ongoing for some time prior to his arrest. They declined to comment on how long the investigation took, or what first tipped them off. They also said the investigation into Ferrari's actions is ongoing, but declined to comment on what they are investigating.

The charges against Ferrari are merely accusations and he is considered innocent until proven guilty.
