Romeoville Man Arrested By Plainfield PD For Domestic Battery
The 31-year-old Romeoville resident was arrested Friday for domestic battery and interfering in the reporting of domestic violence.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — A 31-year-old Romeoville man by the name of Flowers McNeal was arrested in Plainfield on Friday morning for domestic battery and interfering in the reporting of domestic violence. The Plainfield Police Department's public information officer, Commander Anthony Novak, said police responded to a report of domestic violence shortly after 9 a.m. in the 24200 block of Main Street in Plainfield, after the victim in the case called the police from a local Walgreen's phone.
"Dispatch was advising that the victim fled from [their] residence and is currently at the Walgreens over there on Route 59 and 126th [Street]," Novak said.
Though McNeal's is officially listed in county records as being a resident of Romeoville, police said that he was living with the victim at the time of his arrest. Police said that, according to the victim, the pair had a verbal fight that started Thursday night and continued into Friday morning. At the peak of the argument, police said McNeal began choking the victim, before taking her cell phone to prevent her from calling 911. The victim then reportedly went to the Walgreens, where she used the company phone to call the police.

"Police got that information, made an arrest for domestic battery, and the other charge which basically stems from him taking her ability away to call 911," Novak said.
This is not the first time McNeal has been arrested for domestic battery. Will County court records show he was charged with two counts of domestic battery in August of 2019. Both counts were eventually dropped when no witness appeared in court to testify against him.

All charges against McNeal are merely accusations and he is considered innocent until proven guilty.
