ROMEOVILLE, IL — The Valley View Community Unit School District 365-U Finance Department is the recipient of an International Award of Excellence in Financial Reporting Program from the Association of School Business Officials, according to a news release from VVSD.

This award recognizes school districts that create Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports that meet the highest standards of financial transparency and accountability.

This award is in addition to the Government Finance Officers Association Award that was presented at the Nov. 17 Board of Education Meeting, the District said. Both awards include specific criteria that must be met within the comprehensive financial report.

VVSD filed for this award in February 2025 after the 2023-24 audit was complete.

VVSD has always met the state of Illinois requirements for creating ACFR’s, but this is the first ACFR created in accordance with general accepted accounting principles (GAAP), according to the District. This award goes beyond meeting the bare minimum requirements and uses the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report as a tool for transparency and accountability.

“As elected members of our community, the VVSD Board is committed to strong financial stewardship,” said VVSD Board of Education President Steve Quigley. “Our VVSD Finance Team serves a critical role in providing information to the Board and District Administration in our decision-making process. We are proud to see the Finance Team receive recognition for their work. Awards such as these further reinforce our efforts to be good stewards of the VVSD community’s dollars.”
