Romeoville Mayor Makes Donations To High School Organizations
Two checks were made out to organizations selected by the winners of a costume contest.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — Officials say Romeoville Mayor John Noak stopped by Romeoville High School Thursday to present donations to two high school organizations, Best Buddies and the RHS Leadership Program.
The checks from the mayor — $300 for Best Buddies and $100 for the Leadership Program — were made out to those groups after the winner of a costume contest got to name the organizations to which the mayor would donate.
Officials said Andy Jackson won by dressing up as Cousin Eddie from Christmas Vacation. He designated $300 to to to the Best Buddies, a volunteer program that "creates opportunities for one-on-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities," according to the group's Facebook page.
