Romeoville Trustee Charged With DUI Days After Reelection
Trustee Ken Griffin has been charged with DUI two other times and was jailed for driving on a revoked license in 2013.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Just three days after he won reelection running unopposed as part of the Romeoville First Party, village trustee Kenneth Griffin was arrested by Romeoville police on charges of DUI and failure to reduce speed, according to police reports. Griffin has two previous DUI arrests on his record — one from 1984 and one from 2012 in Arizona — and was jailed for four days in 2013 after his bond was revoked on a driving with a suspended license charge.
According to Romeoville police, Griffin, 71, of the 600 block of Bridgeman Lane, was arrested at 11:21 p.m. April 5 in the area of Grand Haven Circle and Pierport Lane.
Griffin's arrest came after police responded to a report of a vehicle striking a tree, according to the Herald-News.

He was released on a $3,000 recognizance bond, police said.
Back in 2013, Griffin was arrested by Will County Sheriff's Police on a charge of driving on a revoked license. He spent four days in jail after he voluntarily revoked his bond, Patch reported at the time. Ultimately, after pleading guilty, Griffin, then 65, was sentenced to a year of court supervision, required to complete 240 hours of community service and pay $250 in court fines and costs.

In 2013, a spokesman for the Will County State's Attorney's office said Griffin was previously arrested for DUI in 1984 and received court supervision. His second DUI came in 2012 in Arizona, at which point his license was revoked.
Griffin was appointed to the village board in 2011 and first elected two months later. He is retired from AT&T and served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.
He is due back on court on May 22. Will County court records do not list an attorney for Griffin.
Romeoville Patch reached out to Griffin for comment. As of Friday evening, he had not responded.
