Will County Hosting Document Shred, Medication Disposal Event

Local elected officials are hosting their annual document shred and medication disposal event Saturday in Romeoville.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Local elected officials are hosting their annual document shred and medication disposal event this weekend in Romeoville. The event is open to all Will County residents.

State Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant (D-Shorewood) and State Rep. Natalie Manley (D-Joliet) will host the free recycling event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Abri Credit Union, 1350 Renwick Rd., in Romeoville.

Each person will be limited to two boxes of documents for shredding, and documents will be accepted until trucks reach capacity, the local legislators said in a news release.

The Romeoville Police Department will also be on hand to accept medication for disposal. No liquids or sharp items will be accepted. Electronics will not be accepted at the event.

Shredding documents helps prevent against identify theft, and experts recommend shred bank statements, credit card offers and statements, canceled checks, pay stubs and tax returns more than three years old.
