Intoxicated Man At Shorewood's Four Seasons Park Faces Criminal Damage To Property, DUI Charges: Police
Shorewood police said he had alcohol on the floorboard behind the driver's seat and an open bottle on the passenger seat rear pocket.

SHOREWOOD, IL — For the first time in many months, the Shorewood Police Department has made an arrest in connection with someone patronizing the community's Four Seasons Park along Seil Road. Over the weekend, Shorewood police took 35-year-old Joliet citizen Aric Vandermeir into custody on charges of DUI and criminal damage to property.
Shorewood police said the incident happened Saturday around 6:50 p.m.
According to the police agency, officers were dispatched to Four Seasons Park for an intoxicated person and upon their arrival, Vandermeir entered a vehicle and drove away.

Officers performed a traffic stop and asked him to explain what happened at the park.

Vandermeir stated a man approached him and accused him of breaking a sink in the restroom. The officer asked Vandermeir to explain what happened in the restroom and he stated “nothing,” there was no one else in the bathroom, the arrest logs show.

Officers saw alcohol on the floorboard behind the driver’s seat and an open bottle on the passenger seat rear pocket, the arrest report showed.
As Vandermeir spoke with the officers, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitted from his breath and officers asked him to complete a field sobriety test; he refused, Shorewood police pointed out.
Vandermeir was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and criminal damage to property. He was issued citations and released from custody. Vandermeir comes from the 2100 block of Joliet's Dartmoor Drive.
He was kept in the Will County Jail for one day last November in connection with a Will County Sheriff's Office arrest on two counts of domestic battery and two counts of interfering with the reporting of domestic violence from Nov. 16.
