The Village was already in the engineering process to have the Seil Road bridge and roadway replaced and reconfigured prior to this unfortunate report from IDOT. This report and future inspections of the bridge have led the village to lower the weight limit on the bridge, as suggested by IDOT. We have posted new signage about the weight load limit change, and have tasked the police department with enforcing the load limits for all traffic using the bridge.

With all the roadway construction projects in and immediately around the Village of Shorewood, the timing of this report could not be worse. Your village officials are seeking not only your compliance with the immediate change, but to bring awareness to those coming into our community of the current situation. We are encouraging outside-of-local residential vehicle traffic to avoid the usage of the bridge to ensure it remains open until an appropriate remedy is established.
