Step-Grandfather Accused in 8 Years of Rape, Lawsuit Alleges

A Plainfield woman claims the assaults started when she was 11.

A Plainfield woman is suing her step-grandfather, accusing him of violating the Gender Violence Act through years of rape and abuse.

The woman, identified as Jane Doe in the suit, alleges the step-grandfather inflicted intentional emotional distress through sexual assault and battery. The lawsuit claims the man began raping her when she was an 11-year-old middle-school student in Crestwood in 2005. The rapes continued through 2013, the suit alleges, with the last attack taking place in Plainfield.

The plaintiff seeks $150,000 in damages. The lawsuit was filed in Cook County Circuit Court in July.
