160+ Cited During Heightened Speeding Patrols In Skokie

Skokie police cited more than 160 people from July 8 to Aug. 1 as part of a speeding enforcement campaign.

SKOKIE, IL — The Skokie Police Department announced it issued 163 citations in over the last month during its "Speeding Catches Up With You" enforcement campaign.

From July 8 to Aug. 1, police arrested one person for drug-related charges and issued 100 speeding citations.

  • 28 seat belt citations
  • 15 distracted driving citations
  • 2 suspended/revoked licenses
  • 3 no valid driver's licenses
  • 14 uninsured motorists

"We continue to urge all drivers traveling through our community to slow down, obey speed limits and drive responsibly," said Sergeant Melissa Russel. "Every decision you make behind the wheel matters — it's truly not a game."

The Illinois speed enforcement campaign is funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by the Department of Transportation.
