8 Arrested, 100+ Cited In Skokie During Traffic Enforcement Campaign
During the St. Patrick's Day enforcement period, Skokie police arrested eight people and issued over 100 citations.
SKOKIE, IL — The Skokie Police Department released the results of its St. Patrick's Day traffic enforcement campaign, which led to the arrests of eight people and over 100 citations.
During the St. Patrick's Day enforcement period:
- One person was arrested for driving under the influence;
- Seven people were arrested for traffic violations;
- Police issued 28 seat belt citations;
- Police issued 53 speeding citations;
- Police issued 14 insurance violations;
- Police issued 23 other citations.
"We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason — to save lives," Sergeant Melissa Russel said.

Skokie police partnered with state and local law enforcement as well as highway safety partners for the campaign. The effort was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
