Coronavirus: Fundraising Campaign Launched By Skokie Officials

SKOKIE, IL — The Skokie Community Foundation is partnering with the village to launch the "Skokie Spirit Shines Through" fundraising campaign to support economically vulnerable residents through the coronavirus pandemic. Funds collected from this community effort will be given to the village of Skokie's Office of Human Services to assist neighbors in need. The foundation kicked off the campaign by donating $10,000.

Donations can be made via Paypal on the community foundation's website or mailed to the foundation, 8022 Lincoln Ave. in Skokie. The village also is asking residents to sent posters, pictures or brief information about how they are staying connected through this crisis to info@skokie.org as part of the of the Skokie Spirit Shines Through campaign.

In a community update posted to YouTube, Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen urged residents to take care of themselves but also to offer assistance to community members and friends going through a tough time.

"We're looking forward to when we will reopen again and at that time, Skokie will come back because we will have met this challenge with optimism and hope," Van Dusen said.
