Coronavirus: Skokie Police Join Nationwide Reading Initiative
Skokie police officers are participating in Books and Badges, a nationwide online reading initiative.

SKOKIE, IL — With children across the state stuck at home due to the coronavirus, the Skokie Police Department decided to join a nationwide initiative of emergency service workers reading books to kids through online videos. The initiative, known as Books and Badges, began in Skokie with Officer Carmen Zuniga's reading of "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!" by Dr. Seuss.

Zuniga said she read the book to her kids on Sunday night and wanted to read it to all of the kids in Skokie. Additional episodes will appear on the police department's Facebook page.
