Library Patron Robs Skokie Bank, Flees On CTA Bus

The man implied that he had a gun and demanded cash during the downtown Skokie bank robbery Monday morning.

SKOKIE, IL — A bank robber visited a local library before targeting the downtown Skokie branch of Chase Bank and escaping on a bus, according to the FBI. He remains at large.

The man showed up at the 7941 Lincoln Ave. bank shortly before 10:15 a.m., the FBI announced. He implied he was holding a gun and verbally demanded cash from bank staff.

An FBI spokesperson described the robber as between 20 and 29 years old and Black, standing between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall with a thin build.

"Prior to the robbery, the suspect is believed to have been at the Skokie Library," the spokesperson said.

Immediately after the robbery, the suspect is believed to boarded CTA bus No. 1547 on route 97 and fled the scene, according to the FBI.

Authorities noted the man's distinctive attire, including a grayish and black pattern zip-up hooded sweatshirt with yellow print down the right arm, a black puffy jacket, dark jeans, black Doc Martin-style boots, a dark ski-style hat and black sunglasses.

No injuries were reported in connection with Monday's incident. Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call the FBI's Chicago field office or submit tips online.
