Featured Obituary:
Libby Savner nee Rosenberg, age 79, Beloved wife of the late David A. Savner for nearly 53 years. Loving mother of Jennifer Savner Levinson and Michael (Jennifer) Savner, an adoring grandmother of Molly and Kate Levinson, Abby and Marissa Savner, a dear sister of Burt (Sheli) Rosenberg, sister-in-law of Steve Savner (Cindy Mann), and a cherished aunt of many nieces and a nephew.
Libby's life was marked by her dedication to her family, philanthropy, education and her love of travel. She graduated from Washington University in St. Louis ('66), and her career as an educator in the Evanston School District spanned many years. She was a member and president of the Deerfield, Illinois Board of Education and a board member of the Josselyn Center, which serves the mental health needs of Chicago's North Shore. Later in life, she became a full-time travel consultant, a career she loved deeply.
Libby and David were not only devoted to their family but also generous philanthropists. Their commitment to Northwestern Law School resulted in the establishment of The David and Libby Savner Scholarship Fund, which will continue to provide full-tuition scholarships for future generations. In 2014, their generous gift led to the creation of Savner Hall, a state-of-the-art classroom dedicated to technology-based teaching solutions.Read more via Chicago Jewish Funerals »
