Featured Obituary:
Gale G. Rattner, nee Golovan, age 81, of Evanston, passed away June 29, 2022. Devoted wife of the late William Rattner, dearest mother of David (Mollie Karger), adoring grandmother of Celia and Elsie, cherished sister of Steven (Bo), dear sister-in-law to Marian, beloved cousin of Lois, Richard, Darlene, and Yale.
Gale was raised on the north side of Chicago, a proud graduate of Senn High School. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and her master’s degree in English literature from Northwestern University. She taught high school English before discovering her true passion as an artist in clay. She was a working ceramic artist for more than forty years and was a founding member of the Midwest Potters Guild. Gale was an active supporter of many arts organizations, thrived on fostering the creative drive of fellow artists, and was an insatiable collector.
Her other passions included literature, theater, gourmet cooking, and participating in Evanston’s Upstagers theater group. Gale was a lifelong learner who believed that intellectual curiosity was essential to a rich life. She was a ferociously loving friend to everyone she met. Whatever she could do to help others, she did. She will be sorely missed.Read more via Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home »
