Featured Obituary:
Alice Fink (nee Redlich) passed at the age of 103. She is preceded in death by numerous loving relatives including her parents and dear brother during the Holocaust. In addition, she is predeceased by her husband of 51 years, John, and her eldest daughter, Esther Fink Persky (William). Alice is survived by her 3 children, David Finke (Helene), Mimi Klane (Steve) and Debbie Fink, grandchildren Amy (Jack), Julie, Illana (David), Shira (Tom), Josh, Aaron, great grandchildren Lev, Eva, Tal, Jonah and Gavin.
Alice was born in Berlin to a loving family, left at the age of 18, the night before Kristallnacht, traveling to England to work as a nurse. After the war, she went to Germany with a group of nurses to care for survivors, where she met Hans. They were married in Germany in 1948 and emigrated to Chicago in 1949 where they rebuilt their lives. Alice worked tirelessly as a wife and mother.
In later years, she was an active member of ORT. Volunteering at the Selfhelp Home was very fulfilling for her. When the time came and she was “tired of eating dinner alone” she chose to move into the Selfhelp Home where she actively participated in many activities until recently.Read more via Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home »
