Officer Shoots Armed Man At Skokie 7-Eleven, Police Say

Police said they shot a man in the abdomen after he brandished a gun.

SKOKIE, IL — An armed man was shot by a Skokie police officer Monday night after showing a semi-automatic handgun at a 7-Eleven parking lot, police said. The subject was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The two officers who responded to the incident both sustained minor injuries.

Around 11:16 p.m., officers responded to reports of a suspicious person inside a vehicle at the 7-Eleven, 7950 Crawford Ave., according to a news release from Skokie police. When officers approached the man, he displayed the firearm. This prompted one of the officers to fire a single shot, hitting the man in the abdomen. Police said the handgun was recovered from the scene.

The Illinois State Police Public Integrity Unit and the Skokie Police are investigating the incident.
