Report Of Armed Man Prompts Shelter-In-Place Order In Skokie

The police investigation prompted shelter-in-place orders for nearby schools, residents and businesses.

SKOKIE, IL — A report of an armed man near Lincoln Jr. High School prompted shelter-in-place orders for all nearby residences, schools and businesses Monday morning, police told Patch.

Officers received a report of a man possibly displaying a firearm in the 4900 block of Hull Street at approximately 10:56 a.m.

Out of an abundance of caution, police sent out a text alert just before 11:30 a.m. informing residents of undisclosed police activity near Hull Street and Niles Avenue. By 12 p.m., the shelter-in-place order was lifted and the police investigation was concluded, police said.

"An investigation was conducted to validate the report; however, at this time, Skokie Police determined there was no ongoing threat," a Skokie Police spokesperson told Patch
