No Shots Fired, Lockdown Lifted At Westfield Old Orchard: Police

SKOKIE, IL — Westfield Old Orchard Mall in Skokie was briefly put under lockdown Tuesday after reports of a person with a gun in the area.

The Skokie Police Department responded to the report at 2:33 p.m. Just after 3 p.m., police warned residents of a large police presence at the mall. Mall employees told NBC Chicago they had barricaded themselves inside stores, the station reported.

According to police, the reports stemmed from a dispute between two people, but no shots were fired. Both individuals were detained as part of the investigation.

The lockdown was lifted when police confirmed there was no threat to the public.
