Skokie Public Library Board To Appoint New Trustee As President Resigns
The new trustee is set to be appointed this spring and serve through April 2025, library officials said.

SKOKIE, IL — After nearly a decade as a library trustee, Mark Prosperi plans to step down at the end of the month, according to library officials.
Prosperi, the board president of the Skokie Public Library, is in his second term on the volunteer board, which runs through April 2025.
Following his departure, library trustees will have 90 days to select his successor. Trustees will also vote to elect a new board president for the next three months, according to Library Director Richard Kong.

With a library board election set for April 4, trustees indicated at last week's board meeting that they intend to wait until after the vote to pick someone to serve out the rest of Prosperi's term.
"Trustees should be familiar with the community, keep current on library standards and trends, advocate for the library in the community, attend monthly meetings, set policies for the library, and support the library director and staff in carrying out library initiatives," according to an announcement of the vacancy.

Library staff asked any Skokie resident interested in serving on the board to send a resume and cover letter to Suzy Rodela-Sulik, the library director's administrative assistant.
"We seek those who share our passion for serving the people of Skokie," the announcement said. "We strive to reflect our community through our dedication to equity, diversity, and inclusion. We strongly urge people of color, people who identify as LGBTQ+, people of all ages, and people with disabilities to apply.
