Skokie Residents To Get Letters From Electric Aggregation Company
No action is necessary for those who receive one of the 4,000 opt-out letters to be mailed out starting Monday.
SKOKIE, IL — About 4,000 letters are set to be mailed to Skokie residents starting Monday, as the village's electrical aggregation contractor updates its eligibility list.
If they do not take any further action, those who receive the opt-out letters will be automatically enrolled in the program.
The village entered into a three-year contract with MC Squared Energy Services in August 2021.

As a result, the company determines which accounts to automatically enroll in the program, and it is currently updating its eligibility list to include people who have newly moved in or customers whose electricity usage makes than eligible for the program.
Unlike past aggregation programs, the benefit of the program has come in the form of a grant toward village sustainability initiatives rather than savings to individual customers.

MC Squared will not solicit door-to-door for the program, and company representatives will not be calling residents unless the residents call them first, village officials announced.
"Do not give your ComEd bill to anyone at your door," officials said in a statement. "For those wishing to support local renewable energy and receive direct savings, check out Skokie’s community solar program. You do not need to install solar panels to participate."
