Skokie Seeks Nominations For Property Beautification Awards
Dozens of property owners are selected for the annual award based on overall appearance, maintance, condition and landscape design.

SKOKIE, IL — The Skokie Beautification and Improvement Commission is seeking nominations for the village's 2022 Property Beautification Awards.
Winners of the annual awards are judged based on the overall appearance and condition of their properties, including their landscape design and maintenance.
The village's commission, an appointed advisory body, evaluates nominees every summer. Winners are notified in the winter and received an award certificate in the spring, according to village staff.

At the April 4 village board meeting, 35 homes and businesses were recognized for their efforts at beautification as part of the 2021-22 award cycle.
"Each year the Beautification and Improvement Commission recognizes those property owners within the Village who make an exemplary effort to maintain the outside appearance of their properties," village officials said in a certificate of appreciation at the time.

"It is fitting that we acknowledge and pay tribute to those property owners who have made our Village sparkle a little more," it said. "The bestowal of this honor is one way the Village can say 'Thank You' for your efforts, which are noticed and appreciated by your fellow citizens and neighbors in Skokie."
Nominations are open for next year's awards, with homes, businesses, condominiums, schools and houses of worship open to apply.
All it takes to nominate a property for a Skokie's 2022-23 Property Beautification Award is an address, but nominations can also include photos and the name of the property owner. Applications can also email beautificationawards@skokie.org ahead of the Aug. 1 nomination deadline.
