Skokie Shootout Over Car Theft Attempt Under Investigation

SKOKIE, IL — A car theft attempted that turned into a shootout Sunday morning in Skokie is under investigation, according to law enforcement.
The Skokie Police Department received a report of gunshots in the area of the 8300 block of Christiana Avenue at 7:20 a.m. Law enforcement at the scene located unspecified property damage at the scene related to the reported gunshots.
According to preliminary investigation results, an individual caught multiple people attempting to steal their car. Both the individual and the suspects opened fire on each other at that time, police said.
