SKOKIE, IL — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Jean Attig who nominated Hafsa, a senior at Niles North High School.

Star local student’s name
Hafsa

How do you know the star local student?
I am her teacher

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
She is our DECA two-year President. She has seen our chapter soar to over 100 members and the 6th largest chapter in our state. She has qualified for our state competition for three years and international competition the past two years. Last year she was recognized as one of the Top 20 in the world with her Financial Literacy Project.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
She is one of the most committed and giving students I have had the honor to teach for the past 30 years.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Hafsa!
