Tour Skokie's Talking Farm, Roast Marshmallows At A Campfire
Or, go for slinkier entertainment at a burlesque review of Broadway songs. It's all in The Weekender.

- National Gymnastics Day is free, and it provides a way for your kids to try out gymnastics. Drop them off at 2:30; pick them up at 4 p.m. at Niles West High School. The event was posted on Patch by the Morton Grove Park District.
- St. Peter's UCC Rummage Sale takes place Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday features a bake sale, too! It's at the church, on Oakton and Laramie in downtown Skokie.
- Niles West High School students and alumni, take part in the Homecoming festivities. The parade starts at 1:40, there's a girls' powder puff game at 3 p.m. and varsity football against Glenbrook North at 7 p.m. Meet in the Alumni tent at 6:30.
- Want to lessen the chances of flooding in your home and get free water, too? Learn all about rain barrels, starting at 10 a.m. at Emily Oaks Nature Center.
- Have you been to the Talking Farm, an urban farm at 3701 W. Howard? Saturday's a good time to visit. Their Hullaballoo, from 2 to 6 p.m., features farm tours, snacks, a campfire and marshmallow roasting.
- Phoenix Rising Chicago presents: "A Broadway Revue: Musical, Dance, and Burlesque performances of original Broadway songs." They'll take on sizzling numbers from Cabaret, Chicago and A Wild Party at Gorilla Tango Theatre in Skokie. Not for the little ones.
- Meet Pillsbury Bake-Off semifinalist Arlene Erlbach at the Morton Grove Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at 6250 Dempster. From noon to 3, you can watch a woodcarver turn a historic (former) tree into a statue at a Morton Grove Historical Society event.
- The Skokie Farmers Market takes place from 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday between village hall and the Skokie Library.
