Year-Long Traffic Enforcement Yields 600+ Tickets In Skokie
Skokie police enhanced its enforcement efforts over a year-long period to reduce traffic crashes and save lives in the community.

SKOKIE, IL — As part of a year-long traffic enforcement campaign, Skokie police issued 620 citations and made 18 arrests.
These efforts conducted between Oct. 1, 2024 and Sept. 30, 2025 were aimed at reducing traffic accidents and saving lives.
“The goal of this enforcement was to make our roads safer for everyone,” said Sergeant Melissa Russel. “By focusing on the leading causes of crashes – such as speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving and failure to wear seat belts – we aimed to save lives and remind drivers that violating traffic laws will not be tolerated.”

Over the time period, police issued:
- 213 speeding citations.
- 129 occupant restraint citations.
- 60 electronic device use citations.
- 58 no insurance citations.
- 13 traffic arrests.
- 5 criminal arrests.
Skokie police joined forces with more than 200 other state and local law enforcement agencies that participated in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High Get a DUI” and “Click It or Ticket”
campaigns. The campaigns are funded with federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
