3 Hurt, Including Chicago Police Officer, In Crash On Southwest Side

CHICAGO (CBS) – A Chicago police sergeant suffered a broken hip after a driver slammed into his squad car early Sunday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. Two other people were injured in the crash.

Police said the 9th (Deering) District officer was driving near 47th and Damen around 3:30 a.m., when an SUV pulled into oncoming traffic, hitting the sergeant's squad car head-on.
