Cook County Medical Examiner Says 6-Month-Old Baby Girl Died Of Child Abuse

CHICAGO — Chicago police are investigating the death of a 6-month-old baby girl who was discovered unresponsive in a residence on the city’s South Side.

A few minutes after 11 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a home in the 7200 block of South Winchester Avenue in the West Englewood neighborhood. The baby girl was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead about 45 minutes later.

The Cook County Medical Examiner identified the infant as Kloe Sophia Bastos Castilles. An autopsy performed on Sunday that the baby died of multiple injuries resulting from child abuse and ruled her death a homicide.
