Cause Of Death Pending For A Woman, 2 Children, Pulled From Lake Near 57th Street Beach

Chicago police said the deaths appear to be tied to a domestic dispute, but haven't offered any additional information.

CHICAGO — The cause of death is still pending following autopsies of an adult woman, and two young children pulled from the waters of Lake Michigan over the weekend.

Autopsies were performed Sunday afternoon on a 31-year-old woman, an infant girl, and a boy, 6, by the Cook County Medical Examiner. A notation on the medical examiner ledger indicated the cause and manner of death were pending, indicating a police investigation was still underway.

The baby girl was recovered from the water about 11:30 a.m. Saturday near the 57th Street beach, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene at the 5700 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive.

A few hours later, around 2:30 p.m., the bodies of the 31-year-old woman and a 6-year-old boy were recovered from the water near the 6300 block of East Hayes Drive, about a mile from where the baby was found.

The woman and boy’s bodies were recovered from the water by the Chicago Police Marine Unit.
