For the second time since June, a Chicago infant has died after being left in a tub.

CHICAGO — For the second time since June, Chicago police and DCFS are investigating after a 7-month-old infant left unattended in a bathtub has died. Police told WLS that officers were called to a South Shore apartment in the 7500 block of South Coles around 1 p.m. Sunday for a report of an unresponsive child.

The mother told police she put the child in the bathtub and left for 10 minutes. When she returned, the baby boy was not responsive, according to WLS.

Firefighters attempted CPR on the boy, who was pronounced dead at Comer Children's Hospital.
