Baby Beaten to Death By Back of the Yards Man: Cops

CHICAGO — A Back of the Yards man beat a 1-year-old girl to death, police said.

Uriel Vega, 22, was taken into custody late Tuesday morning at his South Honore Street home. He was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 1-year-old Raiylana Vasquez.

Raiylana was found unresponsive in Vega’s care, police said.

Raiylana had suffered multiple injuries due to child abuse and died at Holy Cross Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. Her death was ruled a homicide.
