Family Of Infant Left At Far South Side Hospital Found

The 9-month-old boy, however, still remains in the custody of the Department of Child and Family Services while Chicago police investigate.

CHICAGO, IL — The family of a 9-month-old boy who was left at a Far South Side hospital has been located, but the case is still being investigated, Chicago police say. The infant still remains in the custody of the Department of Child and Family Services.

The boy was dropped off at Roseland Community Hospital, 45 W. 111th St., on Tuesday, according to a police community alert. He was wearing a white T-shirt and khaki pants at the time, and he was brought to the hospital by a woman who wasn't a family member. According to reports, a family member had come forward to identify the boy — whose name was listed as Elijah Coid, or Coyd, in the alert. But a police spokesman said Wednesday the child was not released to that person's custody while the department continues its investigation.
