Friend of Stabbed Woman Thought Dying Phone Call was a ‘Prank,’ Hung Up on Her: Report
Her ex reportedly stabbed her repeatedly and then jumped out a window to his death.

CHICAGO — A friend of a woman stabbed repeatedly by her ex-boyfriend reportedly believed her pal’s desperate, dying phone call was a prank.
Julia Martin’s ex showed up at her South King Drive apartment Friday night so she could return her engagement ring, the Chicago Tribune reported, but once he arrived, he stabbed the 27-year-old and then jumped out a window to his death.
Martin called the police and asked for an ambulance, according to the Tribune, then called her father, Derrick Martin.

“Not only did she call me, she texted me while she was going through all this,” the Tribune story quoted Derrick Martin saying. “She was calling everybody, saying that she wanted help. She called another friend and she was panting over the phone, trying to get her breath. He thought it was a prank and he hung up on her. He feels so bad.”
