Police Fatally Shoot Man During 'Domestic Altercation': Officials
Chicago police responded to a domestic disturbance call Monday morning where an officer shot and killed a man in his 60s, police said.

CHICAGO — A Chicago police officer shot and killed a man while responding to a domestic disturbance call on the city's South Side Monday morning, officials said.
Police arrived at the building on the corner of 78th and Carpenter streets at around 7:26 a.m. and told reporters they saw a fight including loud noises at a second floor apartment.
At a press conference, a spokesman for the department said an officer shot a man inside the apartment and then "rendered aid." When paramedics arrived on the scene, they found a 61-year-old man dead from a gunshot wound.

A woman was also taken to the hospital in good condition but it was not immediately clear how she was injured.
Chicago fire officials said a knife was recovered at the residence.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is currently investigating, according to COPA officials. Per Chicago police guidelines, the officer involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for one month.
