Man Shot By Chicago Police Faces Felony Counts
Officers wounded the 30-year-old man after Tasers were ineffective, according to police.

CHICAGO, IL — A man who Chicago police shot and wounded while responding to a domestic disturbance Tuesday faces charges, according to the department. Wen Min Chen, 30, was charged with four counts of felony aggravated assault with a weapon stemming from the incident.
According to police, officers responded to a domestic situation at around 12:01 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in the 2800 block of South Throop Street in the Bridgeport neighborhood, near St. Barbara Catholic Elementary School. They were met by a woman, who said her husband was in a back room with a knife, police said.
A confrontation with the husband led to officers using their Tasers twice, police said. The husband then was shot in the thigh by police, according to authorities.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, and a weapon was recovered from the scene, police said. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating the shooting, and the officers involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for 30 days.

This is the second person shot by Chicago police on the South Side this month. A male juvenile was wounded Friday, March 9, in the South Shore neighborhood.
