CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago police officer was shot in the hand during a traffic stop in Englewood Monday evening.

Interim Chicago Police Supt. Fred Waller said at 7:40 p.m., officers were conducting a traffic stop in the 5600 block of South Shields Avenue when an officer was shot.
The officer was taken by his partners to the University of Chicago Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries after suffering a gunshot wound to the left hand. Waller said he spoke to the officer, who was in good spirits Monday evening.
