South Side Shooter Forces Victim Into Driver-Occupied Pace Van, Fatally Wounds Him

A shooter forced a man into a Pace van and killed him early Tuesday on Chicago's South Side.

CHICAGO - A man was fatally shot early Tuesday inside a Pace van that was parked outside of gas station on the city's South Side.

The victim was 50 years old. Police believe the shooting was part of an attempted robbery, according to an NBC report, and the driver of the van was unharmed in the incident.

"The man was talking to the female driver of a Pace van around 3 a.m. in the lot of a gas station in the 8300 block of Stony Island Avenue when another man walked up and forced the victim into the van at gunpoint, police said. The gunman tried to take the victim's cell phone before firing multiple shots, striking him in the right arm, chest and back, according to authorities."

The man died at an area hospital.
