Teen Shot At Cops During South Side Foot Chase: Police
The 17-year-old boy faces felony gun and drug charges in the weekend shooting.

CHICAGO, IL — A 17-year-old boy faces drug and gun charges after he allegedly exchanged gunfire with police over the weekend on the South Side. No one was hurt in the shootout, which happened on the border of the Woodlawn and South Shore neighborhoods, Chicago police said.
The teen was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm on a police officer, as well as aggravated unlawful use of a loaded firearm and possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number. He also was charged with possession of a Schedule I and II narcotic.
According to police, officers responded to a call of shots fired at around 1:43 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, in the 6700 block of South Ridgeland Avenue. The teen allegedly was fleeing the scene as officers arrived, and a foot chase ensued, police said.

During the chase, the teen allegedly fired several times in the officers' direction, and they returned fire, according to police. Officers eventually captured the teen in an alley, and he was taken into custody, police said.
A gun and an unknown controlled substance were recovered from the scene, according to police.
