Woman Dies From Exposure; 19th Cold-Related Death In Cook Co.

The woman was found Saturday in the Back of Yards neighborhood.

CHICAGO, IL — An unidentified woman in her 60s died after she was found unresponsive Saturday on the Southwest Side, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Her death was the 19th related to the cold this winter in Cook County, the report added.

The woman was discovered in the snow at around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, in the 4800 block of South Oakley Avenue in the Back of Yards neighborhood, the report stated. She was taken to Holy Cross Hospital and was pronounced dead at about 12:40 p.m., the report added.

According to an autopsy Sunday, the woman died from cold exposure and hypothermia, the report stated. No other injuries were found by the Cook County medical examiner's office, but hypertension and cardiovascular disease did play a role in her death, which was ruled accidental, the report added.
