2 Women Get Off with Probation After Pepper-Spraying a Toddler
Summertime fracas started with an insult on Facebook.

Two women involved in a fight in a Batavia apartment complex this summer in which a toddler was blasted in the face by pepper spray managed to avoid long-term jail time. Christina A. Santiago, 24, and Shaumere L. Causey, 20, both of the 1600 block of Grove Street, Aurora, were sentenced to 18 months probation and 100 hours of community service after pleading guilty to misdemeanor battery.
In June, the two women went after a man, woman and child who lived in the 1300 block of East Wilson Street after insults were traded on Facebook. Santiago went after the 29-year-old man with a bat and Causey hit them with pepper spray, including the child. Prosecutors dropped the felony charges that could have netted prison time for the women and offered them a plea deal, which they took last week.
