"The old system only had one 'channel,' which could be targeted geographically, so you could get emergency notifications, but that limited our ability to send non-emergency but urgent messages such as severe weather, road closures," he said.

Residents who enroll may receive real-time notifications about:

  • Severe weather watches and warnings
  • Hazardous materials incidents or gas leaks
  • Large-scale police activity
  • Evacuation or shelter-in-place orders
  • Road closures and major traffic disruptions
  • Other critical public safety updates

The Public Safety Alert System is managed by the Kane County Office of Emergency Management and powered by Regroup, a leading mass notification provider.
