Aerial Videos: Novelty or Helpful Insight
Are aerial videos in real estate just a passing fad, or do they provide true value to potential home buyers in showcasing the neighborhood?

3809 Grand View Ct, St Charles IL [AERIAL VIDEO]
We’ve noticed Realtors are taking to the skies and having aerial videos shot of homes they have for sale, typically the pricier estates. So of course we wanted to try it out.
We hired a company called As Seen Above out of Mokena, IL. They appear to be a recent start-up offering this service to Realtors in the Chicagoland area. Their prices seemed fair so we jumped on board. They use a DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus system (for all you enthusiasts out there).
We had doubts initially about the safety of such a product and the inherent liability should damage occur. However, after researching this drone system, the advanced safety features put our mind at ease.

Now, the big question...are aerial videos just a novelty in search of a viral video, or do they provide helpful insight to someone interested in a particular home or area?
HOME BUYERS: Would you see this type of video helpful in giving you a good overall picture of a home you’re considering? Does it give you a better idea of the neighborhood and surroundings? Is it just a novelty?
HOME SELLERS: Would you choose a Realtor based on the fact they could provide this type of marketing for your home? Do you feel it adds value to the overall marketing of your home? Is it just another bell & whistle that isn’t really necessary?
As our team considers pursuing this type of marketing for homes in the Fox Valley area, we would love your input. Please, take a second to comment below and let us know your thoughts on this topic.
