How Many St. Charles-Area Homeowners Have Paid Off Their House?

Crain's Chicago Business reports St. Charles and Geneva have among the highest percentages in the area.

Communities with a large segment of senior citizens or high median incomes tend to have the highest percentage mortgage-free homes, according to Crain’s Chicago Business. 

According to the Crain's analysis, of 8,691 St. Charles homeowners, 23.5 percent are mortgage-free. St. Charles Patch created a chart to for comparison with other nearby communities.

These numbers are lower than the Chicagoland average of 26 percent of homeowners who are mortgage-free.
