St. Charles Home Sales, Prices Up from September 2012

The number of homes sold year over year jumped 17.4 percent, while median prices in St. Charles posted modest gains.


The 54 single, detached homes sold in St. Charles in September 2013 was a 17.4 percent surge from a year earlier, when just 46 homes homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors.


Median sales prices in St. Charles showed a more modest 2.5 percent increase year over year. The median price of a home sold in St. Charles last month was $284,552, compared to $277,500 a year earlier.

In the Tri-Cities, Geneva experienced the most significant increase in sales over the same period last year. Batavia had the greatest percentage increase in median sales price, up 40.4 percent.


Overall, September 2013 sales in the Chicago suburbs were up 30.7 percent compared to the same time last year. The median sale price for detached homes increased 12.6 percent from the previous September, and the number of homes under contract rose by 30.4 percent.
